Random Lake has participated in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource Citizens Lake Monitoring Network (CLMN) since 1986. This is the means to most accurately determine the actual health of the lake.

There are annual chemical control treatments done to the lake to manage non-native invasive plant species. These treatments require approval via a Wisconsin DNR permit process that is done by the Village of Random Lake. Native plants are not managed since they balance a healthy plant and animal ecology on the lake which includes a recreational fish population.
