Lake Management
Random Lake has participated in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource Citizens Lake Monitoring Network (CLMN) since 1986. This is the means to most accurately determine the actual health of the lake.
There are annual chemical control treatments done to the lake to manage non-native invasive plant species. These treatments require approval via a Wisconsin DNR permit process that is done by the Village of Random Lake. Native plants are not managed since they balance a healthy plant and animal ecology on the lake which includes a recreational fish population.
The Random Lake Association mission is to unite a central body such as persons interested in accepting resonsibilities of stewardship for the waters of Random Lake, it's shoreline, and adjoining property and to maintain such at their highest level of quality; to foster it's beauty and recreational facilities; to maintain property values; and to general goodwill with the Village of Random Lake, and the surrounding community for the support of these ideals, thus insuring the environmental health and logevity of this resource for present and future generations.
The Random Lake Association is commited to develop a Comprehensive Lake Management Plan in 2024 to identify issues that represent shoreline owners, Village government, and community stakeholders. This Plan will select how to address issues with short-term and long-term projects that provide good direction for meeting the Association's mission.
The following plans and studies have been completed for Random Lake and help to plan for future water quality projects:
- 1974 Lake Use Report (SEWRPC)
- 2008 Aquatic Plant Survey (Aron & Associates)
- 2018 Fish Population Study (Addie Dutton - WDNR)
- 2019 2,4-dichlorophonoxyacetic (2,4-D) Acid Study (UW-Madison, Amber White, et al)
- 2023 Aquatic Plant Managment Plan (Aquatic Biologists)
- 2023 Bathymetric Study (Aquatic Biologists)
- 1968/2023 Contour Depth Comparison
